Parting-off blades fit VDI turrets
Seco Tools has expanded its line of
150.10-JETI parting-off blades and
square-shank blocks to include a new
VDI block design.
Adapters directly hold the blades onto
the VDI turret and offer streamlined
delivery of high-pressure coolant to the
cutting zone without the use of hoses.
Coolant is delivered internally to the
adapter via the turret and then reaches
the cutting zone through the coolant
holes in the blades.
Adjustable edge heights optimize positioning, the company states.
This expansion includes face mount
adapters for VDI30, VDI40, and VDI50
turrets and star mount adapters for
VDI25, VDI30, and VDI40 turrets. The
adapters hold 20-mm and 25-mm HSS
parting-off blades. The range is also
compatible with MDT reinforced blades
with internal coolant.

End mill geometry boosts trochoidal milling
Emuge Corp. has released Trochoidal
End Mills, a new line of solid-carbide
end mills with geometry and chipbreakers specifically designed for trochoidal

rates and enable fewer toolpaths to be
used, while enabling a high axial depth
of cut of up to 4xD, the company reports.
They were developed specifically for
advanced milling strategies available in
modern CAM software to optimize the
calculation of milling paths and avoid
unproductive tool motion.
The end mills feature low vibration
characteristics such as variable spacing, variable helix angles, and improved
microgeometries, along with new,
high-performance coatings of TiN/TiAlN
or AlCr and a sub-micrograin carbide
substrate. In addition, the newly developed chipbreaker geometry reduces
axial pullout force and minimizes the risk
of chip buildup in pockets, because the
smaller chips are removed with compressed air or coolant.
They are available in two cutting
geometries: Jet-Cut™ for both roughing and finishing in steel applications,
